# Welcome to Pullpath

Let's get started. Here is a quick overview. You can visit [Pullpath](https://pullpath.com/) to get started for free. Then scroll down to begin.

{% embed url="<https://www.loom.com/share/0220550aec4b4f0e94b43d8deaa7906d>" %}

Click below to start editing your first `pullpath`.

# First pullpath

After you sign in to the [CRM](https://saas.pullpath.works/), you should see a monthly newsletter path template pre-loaded for you. You can click `Edit` on the right to start.

![](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FrgAgYZDU7Yn7SKPoMfQm%2FScreen%20Shot%202022-04-27%20at%209.47.17%20AM.png?alt=media\&token=4cab77ef-3391-41d9-ba90-1d1d4ee05cc0)

If you don't see a path, then you can [click here to download a monthly newsletter template](/templates/interactive-newsletter) and then click the top right drop down, `Create a path`, `Import paths`.

![](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FCdZuPs8BII8YY1jcl8b7%2FScreen%20Shot%202022-04-27%20at%209.42.34%20AM.png?alt=media\&token=344d4729-903f-4da1-8e8a-21ddd9222139)

Just find the .zip file you downloaded and click import. After a minute or so the page will refresh and you'll see the imported path.

# Editing

### Step 1) Who has access to this path

Paths can be shown to `all users` or just to some users, which we call a `group`. This similar to email marketing, like how you can send something to the entire database or send it to a particular segment.

For now, you can keep Participants the same. Just click `Next >` in the bottom right.

![](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2Fy7dwGngy99S7HgESiaZI%2Fpath-audience.png?alt=media\&token=d4013a30-0956-4c9e-9b64-1edcd206bed6)

You can also jump to [groups & tags](/additional-topics/groups-and-tags) to learn how to change who can access this path.

### Step 2) Path details

On this step you can edit some overall details for your path. You will want to change the `path title` and upload your company logo as users will see this. You can always come back to this step to change it later as well.

Click on `title` to type to replace it or click the top right `photo icon` to upload a new one or remove it.&#x20;

![](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FJkSnoJQwAtA9kdw3GdnP%2Fpath-detail-edit.png?alt=media\&token=6ae5b2e4-3daa-4fa0-8bef-18ad8ee595fa)

After uploading a `photo` you are given an option to adjust the photo crop.

![](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FqLxTnb8a9iQsfPKtEulW%2Fupload-photo.png?alt=media\&token=94961c46-efc5-43f6-b750-50189454365e)

Click `Next >` in the bottom right after making your changes to continue.

### Step 3) Editing bits

Each screen in Pullpath is called a `bit` and users must take some action to continue such as choosing a `reply`, typing a `comment` or uploading a `photo or video.`

Click into the first `bit` to start editing the content.&#x20;

![](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FqJHcFIhcdg68tqBvJiAV%2Fedit-bit.png?alt=media\&token=05380d1d-a933-408a-9305-435135ee898b)

On this page, you can click into the areas in red below to change the `bit` content you are sharing. On the bottom left, you can edit the `bit replies` or use the + / - buttons to add more options.

![We recommend using the person's name & photo on the first bit to make it more like starting a conversation.](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FcRJJrb3CW68hfZ0M4118%2Fedit-bit-detail.png?alt=media\&token=0f2dee86-b5a2-473e-bf29-bbe438f85b07)

You can continue editing the other `bits` of this `path` or delete those that you don't need by clicking into the `bit` and clicking `delete` on the bottom right of the page.&#x20;

You can also drag & drop to reorder the flow.

{% embed url="<https://www.loom.com/share/50d77619360a447da8f17901af22238d>" %}

Click `Next >` when you are ready to test the `path`.

# Testing

### Activating your pullpath

When editing a `pullpath`, on the last screen you are able to see how many users will have access to the `pullpath` and get the QR code or link to the `path` by clicking `Activate Path` on the bottom right. It's normal to have 0 participants shown unless you use a previous `group` or set the path to `all users`. This just means that you haven't sent the `pullpath link` to anyone yet.

![A pullpath must be activated in order to test it.](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FmNgKMLst5jz1dwaBJb5x%2Ftest-path-activate.png?alt=media\&token=8a163177-e686-408c-9450-943c26e6900c)

![Right click to save the QR code or to copy the path link.](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2Fh8hfP3JcNUFw4TwkqB2u%2Fpath-link-qr-code.png?alt=media\&token=f29d1543-7f50-4602-a930-cd0b60bbf2b4)

### Getting your pullpath link

You can also get this `path link` at any time from the CRM `path list` by clicking the `Edit` drop down menu, `Path link`.

![Click this option to get the pullpath link & QR code for this path](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FO4ELTaaUo2GARjP5DN9Q%2Fpath-list-path-link.png?alt=media\&token=0b5a209d-494f-48cf-a07e-e3014ebc14f4)

![What you see in the CRM will instantly match the front end view above. Images may cache on a phone so require refreshing to see changes.](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2Fmnrk44VgQpI6FupyUuKD%2Ffront-end-testing.png?alt=media\&token=11e416d8-943f-466f-864a-fa41777e62eb)

### Reseting your data

After testing your `pullpath` you may want to reset your account. In the CRM can click `Search` to find your account using the email or phone number that you signed up with then click the text in green or `View Profile`.

![](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FWEqJXsy1C1qRBcRS3c1c%2Fuser-search.png?alt=media\&token=eb4aa8cb-2f08-4791-adce-07983b07341c)

On the `user profile` page you can click the drop down below the profile photo and scroll down to see `Reset data`. This will remove all the user's submissions (replies to `paths`) and tags but will keep their account data such as name, email etc.

![Scroll down in the User options menu to see more](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FUYCKdlirDmi01TBrEZSo%2Fuser-profile.png?alt=media\&token=524b3b4e-9e98-4c7e-b9bc-dc3c3cfa1256)

# Launching

After testing your path, it's ready to go live.&#x20;

Usually each `pullpath` audience has a unique `group`. This means that only users who click on this specific `pullpath` link or QR code will be able to see it.&#x20;

<details>

<summary>How do I create a group?</summary>

You can create `group` from the step 1 of path creation by selecting `Show to a tagged group of users` and entering a new tag. Or you can click the top navigation bar `Users` and then click `Create group`. You can find more details [here](/additional-topics/groups-and-tags).

</details>

Here are a few things to double-check before launching.

* [ ] Confirm who should see the Path (step 1 of `pullpath` creation flow)
* [ ] Set your pullpath to `active` (the last step of pullpath creation flow or from the `path list`)
* [ ] Grab the pullpath link or QR code from the `path list` dropdown
* [ ] Send a short email or message invite with the link
* [ ] (optional) Create an invite image with the QR showing topics, rewards & other participants
* [ ] View results shortly after sending
* [ ] Send reminder invite 3 days later, ideally including some user comments

# Results in the CRM

Immediately after a path is live, you will start seeing real-time data inside the CRM.

### Participant replies

How `pullpath` participants replied are called `results`. On the `path list` you can click on the name of your path or click the `Edit` drop down and select `View results`.

![Results are what users said. Reports are stats about the pullpath itself.](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FIoeP6HgDe6o2P7kovdF9%2Fpath-list-results-report.png?alt=media\&token=196a4ee6-e8d2-4a87-8531-af85389838ea)

On the `bit result` view, you can see percentage replies across all bits.&#x20;

![Click on a bit to see the details or export to excel](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FIfgwMkgoHpwzSuF5JHsu%2Fcrm-results.png?alt=media\&token=67789488-1572-4c6f-b481-85f9aa101a7f)

On the `bit result detail` screen you will see percentage replies. You can click the bottom left `View counts` to see how many participants made each choice or click the bottom right `export raw data to csv file` to download this question to excel.

![View counts to toggle between percentage & raw numbers](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2Fn0G5y1ERUqUeaRO1jTEe%2Fcrm-question-percent.png?alt=media\&token=d4ce7b11-b340-4a5f-b2d9-31ef137597ed)

![Same result as above, showing the number of users who made each choice instead](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FhfICRHwuyh1isk7pp8ng%2Fcrm-question-count.png?alt=media\&token=9e15775e-1a61-4a8f-b678-47a8ac3d217d)

# Results in Engage

If the `premium reporting tier` is active on your account, you will also have access to Pullpath Engage.&#x20;

Engage is designed to view results on mobile and give you an easier way to 'story tell' the results back to your organization. If you don't see links to Engage, you can request it by sending a message to <levelup@pullpath.com>.

### Accessing Engage links

You can access `Engage` via the `path list` right side `Edit` drop down, `Path Engage Link`.

![This menu option will only display if the Engage feature is active on your Pullpath account](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FuC2wR4uSf4Namfpkykqm%2Fengage-access.png?alt=media\&token=751cface-eb10-472f-92fd-66b4c4487a49)

You will need to be signed in to see the `Engage results` and you will also need admin privileges to view the data.&#x20;

![Designed for mobile so you always have access to results. Pullpath users also screenshot to add to other pullpaths or presentations.](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FexzCKNe1gf2A96LCFrwX%2Fengage-front-end.png?alt=media\&token=86e64cd5-2b10-4fd9-990a-4eb8ba512227)

### Showing or hiding bits in Engage

In the `bit edit` view, you will also see a function along the top called `Show in engage` along with small hearts on each bit. Here you can customize which `bit replies` will be shown in `Engage`.&#x20;

![](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2F1QWVssAUq1s8Nj32dsuY%2Fbit-edit-engage.png?alt=media\&token=47e2ec30-a75f-47ed-854c-c9d152ad4793)

### I'm unable to see results in Engage

If you are unable to see the `engage results` like above, try making your account an `engage admin`.

In the top right, search for your account in the [CRM](https://saas.pullpath.works/) and click on your name to view your profile.

![You can search by user id, name, email or phone number. Partial matches also work.](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2F1AnCZdtiRePBHKeAN3g8%2Fprofile-search.png?alt=media\&token=f17abd5e-b56b-48a6-959b-47e5113ebb47)

![Click the drop down & Edit user details](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2F2p329bOWkPMtsVMhK0L1%2Fprofile-edit-user-details.png?alt=media\&token=97064612-2edb-48d3-9f38-f47fd3876178)

# Emailing results

The easiest and most popular way to share results is by emailing them to yourself or to colleagues. The graphs will be shown directly in the email without having to load images.

On the top of the `bit edit` screen, you will see a function `Email Results`. This will send an email of all the bits with `show in engage` hearts enabled. This allows you to choose which `bits` to include or to skip in the email.

![A filled-in heart means that this bit will be included in the email you send. Toggle all on & off with the button at the top.](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FNzMs1EehmQ3XJo5kjOm4%2Femail-results.png?alt=media\&token=6a413fb6-be10-43b0-921c-923c4b948506)

On the next window, the only required fields is the recipients email address (top) and your name & email in the middle. You can also first send the results to yourself only and then forward it to multiple other colleagues from your email program itself. The bottom section you can skip unless you also want us to see the results.

![Be sure to enter your name & email so that they know who sent them the results](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2Fteih6xGpXquLrP3oyxiX%2Femail-results-sending.png?alt=media\&token=27b757ac-a20d-4f9c-921f-9362f8756a31)

Then you or your colleagues will receive everything they need to understand the results in one email. The graphs will scale up or down depending on their window size so it's mobile friendly as well, which is good for busy leaders.

![The recipient does not need to have a Pullpath account in order to quickly review the results via email](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2F2CW4G2l7gH4Q0oG1diP4%2Femail-results-received.png?alt=media\&token=7e81d99d-a515-459c-afe0-6138d9f44157)

# Exporting results to excel

### Exporting pullpaths to Excel (.csv file)

As shown on [viewing results](/getting-started/results-in-the-crm#participant-replies), all individual `bits` can be exported to excel. You can also export all replies into a single sheet on the `path list` page. On the right, click the `Edit` drop down and select from two different options.

![](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FVwAaC2l6ghY2DOwkgloa%2Fpath-list-export-results-user-sheet.png?alt=media\&token=987aa03f-f839-4763-8ac0-0cacfba387ca)

#### Export Result

This will generate an excel file where every single question has their own tab and you will see all the users who replied below. This is useful for getting counts or percentage data for specific questions for use in other programs such as keynote or powerpoint.

![](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2F3dMj3hq8jExT9B3f41rD%2Fexport-results.png?alt=media\&token=737d1420-7d31-49fe-ab2b-63f09faf4c12)

#### Export User Sheet

This will generate an excel file where the rows are each individual user and the columns are each path question and the users' reply. This is useful for summarizing data with totals or averages or especially for use with pivot tables to generate new cross-tab results.

![](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2Fx5EFnBz5HvPxshUsnU4a%2Fuser-sheet.png?alt=media\&token=c0c66789-dc8f-4694-a993-c70f9b4067f4)

# Your next pullpath

We strongly recommend that every program start with at least one monthly `pullpath`. This gets the entire organization into a regular cycle and gives you a chance to show that you're listening to everyone's feedback, which is the only thing that will keep participation high over time.

For your next month's path, you can save time by first `copying a pullpath`. On the `path list`, use the far right `Edit` dropdown and select `Copy path`.&#x20;

![](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FwArTAFSjtDASvG6QwCQY%2Fcopy-path.png?alt=media\&token=65934bc9-e555-4dea-ba19-d4571df1152c)

Then just give it a new name. For example, let's say you're copying the first update you sent in January then you would name this 'February update'.

![](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FNHbwhEJww7FPpevVEv4e%2Fname-path.png?alt=media\&token=e7ef8cfc-6965-49c5-987b-96cc349ad4d7)

When you are no longer sending new participants to `pullpaths` , you can `pause` or `archive` them.&#x20;

A `paused` path can still be seen by users if they had access to it before but no new users will get it. An `archived` path can no longer be seen any any user. A pullpath must be `paused` before it can be `archived`.

{% embed url="<https://www.loom.com/share/eb66762c39d44f039c68a8a36d867afa>" %}
You can also click Filter drop down and view status = Paused or Archived to find older paths
{% endembed %}

You can also create `folders` to keep things tidy by clicking the drop down next to `Create a path`. Then you can drag & drop paths into folders.

{% embed url="<https://www.loom.com/share/5e0f17b5493f49a7b6f5f478a9841e56>" %}
&#x20;Folders are only for your sanity, they do not impact participants at all
{% endembed %}

# Overview

Pullpath is an extremely flexible tool. We offer `templates` as a way to give you new ideas & best practices from the community.&#x20;

We'll explain a few & give you links to download the pullpath .zip file, which you can then import into your [CRM](https://saas.pullpath.works/) directly.

Here are few path ideas you can try:

<details>

<summary>Pre-meeting or pre-offsite pullpath</summary>

You can send some information ahead of time and gather questions or feedback from the team so you know what are the most important topics to cover together.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Introducing new colleagues</summary>

First you can send a pullpath to the new employee, asking a bit about them, some photos, hobbies etc to help the team get to know them better.

Then you can take their responses and use that in a pullpath for the rest of your team to introduce them to their new team member.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Weekly wins &#x26; focus</summary>

Growing fast can be a challenge so use a weekly pullpath to remind the team of what's going well. Celebrate those wins or recognize employees who are living the company values in action. You can also then remind everyone of the focus or pose a question to better understand where their energy is going.

</details>

# Importing path templates

To use templates, you'll first need to download the path zip file and then import it to your [CRM](https://saas.pullpath.works/).

You can find all our [templates here](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1RUDFfTB3_U2oPB1nyFS_7wgBFCkFchcx?usp=sharing) or download our most commonly used one to start - the [monthly update newsletter](https://drive.google.com/file/d/10Som3Ikt-DDKNawAyrUvURKwNrVBRHa6/view?usp=sharing).

After downloading a .zip file, then click the top right dropdown `Create Path`, `Import Paths`.

![You can import pullpaths from any CRM or export them to share with others](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FCdZuPs8BII8YY1jcl8b7%2FScreen%20Shot%202022-04-27%20at%209.42.34%20AM.png?alt=media\&token=344d4729-903f-4da1-8e8a-21ddd9222139)

# Interactive newsletter

A regular update of wins, events, replying to feedback & name that colleague game.

[Download the monthly update template](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BtwatOH4NRXiWc-G8_rN8ol3c2nDagnb/view?usp=sharing) for use in [Pullpath](https://pullpath.com/)

An interactive newsletter is a great way to keep everyone in the loop as well as give you a chance to reply to the best feedback & questions you get from the team. This shows them that you're listening and will keep them engaged over time.

The interactive newsletter is our most commonly-used `template`. Using this pullpath opens a regular dialogue back & forth between leadership & the team. After downloading the template, click the top right dropdown `Create Path`, `Import Paths`.

# Tips for interactive newsletters

5 best practices for making your monthly newsletter more effective

This is a template deep dive on the [interactive newsletter](/templates/interactive-newsletter) (for use in [Pullpath](https://pullpath.com/)) where we share best practices that have helped our customers consistently double the completion rates of surveys & triple the number of interactions.

## 1) Explain why you're doing this

When people receive a message, they often think 'why am I getting this?' and 'is this relevant to me?'. You want to answer those questions as early as possible and always try to answer them in every subsequent invitation back to your `pullpath`.

### Explain in the email or message invitation

Bad: Here's this month's newsletter

Ok: The August newsletter is out. Your opinion counts.

Good: Where should we have our next offsite? Vote this week to earn bonus points.

*As you are more specific about 'why' and highlight relevance to the user, they are more likely to participate. The more generic the message, the easier it is to ignore or deprioritize (and then forget).*

### Explain in the first newsletter

The very first time that you send an interactive newsletter, you can spend more time on introducing Pullpath as a tool so that everyone understands the goals, expectations and most importantly, how it benefits them.

Here's an example:

![The Goal, The Why & Benefits 1 - 3 can be the first 5 bits a participant sees](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FgUElB9HdHpGs4yiAI9oy%2Fexplain-first-path.png?alt=media\&token=e3847d53-e540-452a-8063-45c80bc4785b)

After establishing why, you can then ask about other things such as preferred topics, frequency or ask them to complete their profile to gather name, photo, group/team or job title.

### Explain in the first bit title & sentence

Every month, you can use the first `bit title` & first sentence to reinforce why to continue & benefits to them or to the company. The first bit image and first sentences can show up in link previews so use this to your advantage by making it specific or beneficial to them.

For example, below the bit title is "Let's co-create Pied Piper's goals for the year" and the image is taken from the first bit.

![The bit title is prominently shown and the image is taken from the first bit. Some previews also show the first line of text.](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FHxcXnW0wX3ZFPMItt0Xt%2Fmessage-preview.png?alt=media\&token=637786f1-d626-43d2-9b3d-5c15b4ad507b)

## 2) Send it on a fixed schedule

If you're just starting out, we recommend a **monthly schedule** in order to strike a balance between frequency and workload. Our more advanced programs may send on a weekly basis or use a blend of quick feedback checkins every week (how are you feeling scale 1-5 type bits) with a monthly interactive newsletter.

You should also set expectations and a fixed deadline so that users know when to expect it and are hopefully looking forward to it each month.&#x20;

For example, you could send by the 1st of every month or the first Friday of each month.&#x20;

You can also give users bonus points to encourage fast participation each month.&#x20;

For example, you could say 'The first ten people to comment get 20 bonus points for their team'. Then to add bonus points, you can click to see [path results](/getting-started/results-in-the-crm) and click into comments results. From there, you can click on `Give bonus points` and enter points along with optional comment.

![Click into comment results then click Give bonus points](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FXoyW00fcx5HMzYugYSh7%2Fcomment-bonus.png?alt=media\&token=e129de99-0042-4b18-959c-ea0950ad23c4)

![Then enter the amount of bonus points to give. If you enter 20 it will give points. If you enter -20 it will remove points.](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FmTm8MtJmKGBBjy2HnLyj%2Fcomment-bonus-detail.png?alt=media\&token=97fa5fc3-8506-4160-97fa-d78255aa5b13)

## 3) Include rewards regularly

People everywhere respond to incentives. You can use this to your advantage by including rewards of different types and mentioning them often.

### Add extrinsic rewards to start

We suggest starting simple to get some initial attention to your interactive newsletter. Some examples of extrinsic rewards:

* Gift cards (Starbucks, Amazon, Apple etc) - most common \*
* Organization swag (Pied Piper T-shirts, mugs etc)
* Money or other physical goods (Wine, Travel bag etc)

*\*For gift cards, can upload these codes to the system so that users get their rewards immediately or you can give them out manually to start.*&#x20;

These extrinsic rewards are easy to understand and help people get started with Pullpath for the first time. It also shows that you value their participation and feedback.

### Add intrinsic rewards to keep people involved

Intrinsic rewards tap more into people's core motivations and tend to lead to more & deeper long term involvement in co-creating your organization together. Some examples of intrinsic rewards:

* Paid time to volunteer (day off to do charity work of their choosing)
* Contribute to a cause (company will donate to a cause they believe in)
* Lunch with the GM (access to senior leadership as a way to get ahead)
* Be the CEO for a day (a junior rep & CEO swap jobs for a day, generates a lot of internal chatter)

These intrinsic rewards are usually much higher points or are given out to recognize valuable feedback or participation. You can add these later as you get more comfortable using Pullpath.

## 4) Share the leaderboard 2-3 times

After you launch your interactive newsletter program, you'll want to create a leaderboard. To make the leaderboard look nice, you may also want to have user profile path to ask for name, photo, group/team and job title. You can download the [User Profile Template here](/templates/complete-user-profile).

To get a link to the leaderboard, click Leaderboards in the top menu then next to a specific leaderboard, click the `Edit` drop down and select `Leaderboard link`.

![If you don't see Leaderboards in the top menu then send us a message to get it enabled](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FMizQbQl8s09Gdi7vZSKB%2Fleaderboard-link.png?alt=media\&token=3fd10c9c-a935-42ab-81ec-d9bcf6067632)

Then you should share that link to the leaderboard & screenshot back to the team. We recommend sending in 3 days and 7 days later after you launch your monthly update.&#x20;

:bulb: *Don't forget to include a link to the most recent update in case they haven't completed it yet.*

![The email can be simple - seeing their colleagues faces & points can drive a friendly competition](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FPPtWzzb2CwGHiFFj812L%2Fleaderboard-email.png?alt=media\&token=7e4d3049-8f27-4acf-8de7-748662f81e2f)

You can also add the `leaderboard` to paths as well before you launch the next month's update.

![It's best to add a screenshot early in the pullpath and only link to the leaderboard near the end (so they finish the current path first)](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FKQcIhPhYcdAjlWHyxCPc%2Fleaderboard-in-bit.png?alt=media\&token=29c9b536-2851-496f-830f-c6e4ea20957c)

## 5) Show that you're listening

We have left the best for last. The single most important factor to a successful Pullpath interactive newsletter is consistently showing that you're listening to everyone's feedback.&#x20;

We've all had the experience of giving up on surveys because 'why bother if nothing changes'. Here are some of the ways that you can show that you are listening.

### Here's what you said last time

We recommend including a section near the beginning of every newsletter where you are referencing the results or user-generated content from the previous month.&#x20;

You can screenshot results from [Engage](/getting-started/results-in-the-crm/results-in-engage) and embed them in the bits. We recommend circling a key result in red and using the title or description to let them know what it means. Ideally you're also then making a change as a result of what they said.

![Pullpath Engage screenshots in bits. The red circle highlights the top result. Comments with photos make it more social](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2Fc3eQY92UDKqG41rWZIKg%2Fresults-in-bits.png?alt=media\&token=fc3216a5-63e9-47f2-9f0b-5ac24383a7bf)

### Here's what people are saying (about this month)

A few days after your first launch invite, you can send another email or message and include some of the users feedback comments in the email subject & description then include a link to the update.&#x20;

This shows that other colleagues are enjoying your interactive newsletter and is a good reminder to get them to participate.

![A text email with comments and a link to the newsletter is an easy way to show you're listening & remind users to join](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2F1KfBHqidYQgy8VPcGlEX%2Femail-comments-after-launch.png?alt=media\&token=1a62f092-6a3a-4115-a713-77956da6d02c)

### Sharing Engage results with a wider audience

If you want to be even more transparent, you can use the `email results` function to send some or all of the bit results to your team. You can learn how to do that [here](/getting-started/results-in-the-crm/emailing-results).

If you want to add additional comments to specific results or to make any changes, you can also email yourself the results first and then email them to the team. You may want to email it to yourself first if you need to email a large number of people or an internal mailing list.

![Participants don't need to sign in to Pullpath to see the results directly in their email and it's mobile friendly as well](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2F2CW4G2l7gH4Q0oG1diP4%2Femail-results-received.png?alt=media\&token=7e81d99d-a515-459c-afe0-6138d9f44157)

### Recognize outstanding contributions

You can include in an email or in a path or both some great comments or photos or contributions that team members have made. Or you can do this as a standalone path.&#x20;

This is your chance to publicly celebrate and reward people who are living your values.

![This example is a standalone path but you can reproduce similar bits in your monthly interactive newsletter](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2F4OigJ0guZR3D65GC1Gat%2Frecognition-path.png?alt=media\&token=f1b2c8a4-9d4a-4695-b052-1f9a8d20f23f)

# Intro to the team

A path to introduce Pullpath to a smaller team before fully launching your interactive newsletter

[Click here to download the Intro to the team](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OE3pgIGgEfFZokO-3EhgKxN-Z1J4GC5A/view?usp=sharing) template for use in [Pullpath](https://pullpath.com/)

If you're not ready to start with a full [interactive newsletter](/templates/interactive-newsletter), you can try introducing Pullpath first to your executive team or to a smaller group. You can get their feedback first to see how it all works before launching it to your entire organization.

![You can introduce why & how you plan to use Pullpath. This will get them on board & let them experience it themselves](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2FbXtj2kP7sXEg9PKpIC8h%2Fintro-team-1.png?alt=media\&token=43b921e3-157c-4deb-838b-d4992ee35996)

![You can add several additional questions to this path to see what your team feels is most important to engage the team.](https://1748900680-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvHkM0etrbc8qPGtSDGBK%2Fuploads%2F2jznkfy9yIbKjzESecze%2Fintro-team-2.png?alt=media\&token=550dcfab-5e0a-48ec-8133-995006bc5f7f)
